So, after the antelope hunt I told him that I wanted to take my hunters safety. Just to kinda learn more about hunting. I wasn't sure that I wanted to get really into it like he was but just to have more understanding about it. So I took my hunters safety class last year and passed! And for Christmas he bought me a Bow and Arrow. We practiced shooting it all the time in our back yard. You wouldn't think so, but it's a lot of fun to shoot a bow.
Anyways,
Saturday August 16th was the first day of the archery hunt. Me, Mont, Jared (my brother) and Tyler (my brother in-law) all went up to Monte Cristo for the weekend. We were going to be hunting out of tree stands. They were all SO excited, me on the other hand I was NERVOUS! So we woke up at 3:45 Saturday morning so we could get ready and hike into our trees stands. The boys could not stop smiling they were so excited! They looked like kids on Christmas morning Ü
I was getting sick to my stomach, thinking about hiking to our tree stands in the DARK and then sitting in the tree stand all by myself for about 5 hours. Mont's tree stand was about half a mile away. I made him buy walkie Talkie's before our hunting trip incase I was getting attacked by a cougar or a bear. So we got ready and headed for the tree stands.......Can you tell I'm NERVOUS!
I was trying to hide my NERVOUSNESS.
Outside getting ready to leave to go hike. The hike was really not that scary like I thought it would be. I just stayed right on Monts heels the whole time. A couple of times he would stop and I would run right into him. We finally got to my tree stand, Mont helped me get on it and put on my safety harness. Then he left.....I honestly felt so much safer then I did on the ground and wasn't scared AT ALL! I sat there all morning and didn't see nothing, except for some birds. Then after five hours in the tree stand, we went back to camp and then later that evening we went back to our tree stands. We sat there for about four hours and all I seen was a baby elk come in. I know there was more with him, but I couldn't see behind me and I was trying to be quite so that they would come out from behind me, until two gun shots went off and they ran off. There were some DUMB people up their shooting beer cans during the archery hunt. I was so mad! But it was still cool to see a baby Elk.... I wont keep going on and on like I already have. But I just thought that I would post this cause I found out that when you try new things they might just become one of your new favorite hobbies Ü
I look really HOMELY.....LOL

You look good in camo! So did anyone get anything?
Dude, you look cute in all of your hunting gear! So funny your hair is done at 3:45 in the morning! I would always go hunting with my dad when I was younger and it is some of my best memories!
Your story sounds a lot like mine- I had no idea what I had married! You are better than me- it has taken Mike 13 years to convince me to go out in the cold and hunt with him. I took hunters safty last year and this year got my first tag. He's promised to give me his rifle he won for his magazine article- I hate his- it is too heavy & kicks too hard. So we'll find out in October if it's my "new favorite Hobby" as well. I think Mike will hold a family fast the week before to promote my interest! :)
You are so awesome. It looks like fun. Plus anytime spent away from kids with the husband is a good thing.
Mont's a lucky guy! I have no patience for hunting! Joey always makes us go on family drives to spot deer and I have to say I hate every minute of it. I get bored so easily!
You look hot in your camo though! Maybe I'd like it a little better if I bought myself a sweet camo outfit!
Man I wish I could look that cute in hunting gear!! Looks like you had a fun time! Derek would love it if I had an intrest in bowhunting...Every October he goes for about 10 days and he is in heaven!!
